Flex Drawing API excursions

Andrew Trice has a really nice sample and write up of using the Drawing API. The sample allows you to write your own code and try it out live. The sample comes with several code examples to choose from that you can also edit and try out live. Check it out over on InsideRIA

Presenting on Flex Debugging tonight at AFFUG

Tonight I will be presenting on Flex Debugging at the Atlanta Flex and Flash User Group. I will be covering topics like using the debugger in Flex Builder, using a man-in-the-middle tool like Service Capture, using trace(), mx.logging, and more. Did you know Aptanta has a tail view? neat.

If you are in the Atlanta area, drop in and check it out. If not, below is a link to the presentation. There is a chance it will get recorded too. There are issues with using a proxy tool like Service Capture while using Connect, but I am to try using a VM to run this and see. Stay tuned!

360|Flex Atlanta rawked the house

I’m a little late in doing this, but what the hey!
Well its over and back to work, eh? Time to put all that great knowledge to use and create some UX baby! 360|Flex Atlanta was awesome. Kudos go to John Wilker and Tom Ortega for pulling off such a sweet event. Some awesome speakers were present and it was truly a developers conference. Some highlights of sessions I attended were Jun Heider’s talk on Memory Management, Ben Clickinbeard’s talk on Reusable components, and Ben Stucki’s far out You got to wear funny looking 3D glasses talk. Oh, and who could miss the bedazzling man o’ the hour Doug McCune talking on Open Source Flex stuffs as well as some language antics. :)

In all, if 360|Flex comes near you make sure to go. If not near you, get your boss on the phone and show him all the blog posts about it, you WILL learn something!

Atlanta, Tonadoes, and 360|Flex?

Wow, what a Friday night in Atlanta. A tornado hit downtown and tore up some stuff. It actually damaged the CNN Center/Omni Hotel a bit. Yes, the same spot 360|Flex Atlanta was in just a few weeks prior. The really freaky thing was, I was on Marta right under all of it as it was and just passed. I actually saw a couple people that had minor scratches and stuff after just running from the mess above. This after having Delta lose my luggage on a direct flight, err….

My 360|Flex Speaker Eval

So, there you have it: My results
Thanks to those that filled out evals for me. All in all, not bad for suffering through the flu 3 days prior to presenting.

I have yet to get around to write a ‘What I thought About 360|Flex’ post yet, may get to it this week. THe skinny is though that it RAWKED! Tom and John certainly got it going on, eh?
