Here are some higlights of projects I have been involved in over the past few years.

Flex 2.0 version
For this recent project, we used Macromedia Flex technology. Flex allows us to develop Flash based business applications using an XML based language. This is great for developers who do not need all the fancy animation tools in the Flash IDE. We used a JRun based J2EE middle-ware layer for the tool and a Oracle backend. The Flex 2 port used Apache Tomcat instead of JRun and was also tied into a IBM Federated Identity system for security management. In the Flex code we made use of Cairingorm. The tool allows store managers to build schedules for each of Alltel’s 500+ store fronts, enabling employees and anyone in the company to view their schedules at anytime.

Unified PortalThis project involved building an information portal that displayed data based on a users role. Data included several sections of news, alerts, links, etc. An admin tool was created to input all data. News articles and various other texted based input made use of a WYSIWYG tool. The news headlines on the right hand side were supplied via a webservice. The backend consisted of over 70 tables in a Oracle database. Aproximately 3 months were spent on requirements to development, yup, a fast RAD project.

ACEThis project involved creating a site that allowed an admin to create a sales contest based on several sales datapoints. A stored procedure was used to calculate all scores for each employee in the contest as well as rank them. Each employee could view reports to see where in the contest they were.

Executive ComplaintsThis was an application to track customer complaints recieved via letter. This image is of the data entry screen which consisted of four pages of data. Many reports were built to view the data by regions, markets, management, and employeee.

MagnysThis was the largest project I participated in. It involved building a commissions system for the sales force. The front end consisted of several reports for employees and management allowing them to see sales and commission data. It also consisted of a great many administration tools to manage the application. How big? Consider this, a couple of the database tables exceeded 10 million rows! I built a small Flash intro logo for this tool.
